SEO web design is not difficult to achieve, despite what you think. There are literally thousands of expert articles on the subject out there if you look at them, but all of them seem to be saying essentially the same things: you need to hire an expert marketer for the SEO web design to work.
This is not quite true, though. SEO web design is actually very simple, when you boil it down to its basic concepts. There are only two things that you need to have a site that will rank highly in search engines: good keyword density and well-designed keyword marketing plan.
It really is all there is to it. Sure, it seems very simple, it is not. Oh, Grasshopper, now we get to the practical details. Sure, you can hire a professional search engine marketers and would probably get great results for this. I will not tell you not to. What I will say is that if you have knowledge and time, you can make the most of the marketer's SEO web design work himself. Much of what I am about to show you is what marketers would like to ask you, as the site designer, to do for her anyway.
First, you have to do your keyword list and research how feasible the key words and phrases is in your reach a good position. To do this, you need to sit down with your site and have a one-on-one with the content. What is the site about? What is it that promotes? What are the big words and phrases that seem to be recurring throughout the pages? Although the site has not been written copy of the keyword density, there are certain key words and phrases which of course will jump from the text because they are what describe the site's purpose (if that is what sells or conveys). A site about dogs, for example, will have lots of dog words that dog, pooch, dog, and so on. These are the natural keywords, the site contains.
Now you just have to dig a little deeper. What phrases and themes appear regularly on the site that is not so obvious, but is integrated with the site's purpose? This site about dogs may be a site whose ultimate aim, although there are pages and pages of content on the dog, is to sell a dog training book and a handful of dog-related products (say custom leather necklace, for example) . Alright, now you get to the practical details. The purpose of the site is not to provide information, but rather to sell products through marketing plan to give away much information. This is a proven technology and has worked many times.
So now you have a few key words and phrases to work with. Hopefully, you've got a fairly long list too, because now the fun part: the role-playing. You are now the customer who is looking for dog training information on a search engine. What are you going to write in the search field? Be creative, but be realistic. Things that dog training and learn how to train my dog are obvious. How are variations on these themes and similar phrases that may not contain the word trains at all? Perhaps the dog tricks is also something to consider.
Now you're probably looking at a fairly long list of words and phrases. Good. That's what you are looking for. Once you have racked your brain, copy the list, and it happens that one or two persons. Tell them what the site is for and ask them if they have any ideas to ad to the list. In the meantime, you can begin to reverse search those keywords to see how often they are used. If you do not know how to do this, put the phrase reverse keyword search in Google or About.com, and you can find lots of information about how it works.
Take the lists of your friends have given you and work those too. You want to concentrate on two things: what the words / phrases are often searched, and that niche (underutilized words / phrases, phrases or other sites is not optimal too much) can be made to promote your site. Now we get to the essence of SEO web game.
Hopefully you've worked your way into a solid list of six to ten words or phrases that you can work with (less with fewer pages, more with more pages, use your judgement). Now is where the whole SEO web thing starts to happen. Take these phrases and apply them to the pages they are appropriate. Change the content (or have your copywriter optimize it) to fit your new SEO phrases. Even if it happens, start looking at titles, file names, ALT tags and more. You want those keywords to run everywhere, but not in such a way that it is overloaded (called keyword spamming). It should be reasonable that a person can see on that side, too. Use keywords and key phrases that name for the image files, ALT tags to go with them, etc. Use the other keywords in your title tag and the content of the page, which works on the density without overcrowding: two or three times per item is on the outside edge of a lot.
If the site is quite large and comprehensive, you can optimize pages or entire sites of the party for two or three key words and phrases each, capitalizing on various search the entire site. Building these words and phrases in your SEO web design efforts are the key to making it happen. Soon enough, your efforts will begin to pay off on your site is rising higher and higher in rank. SEO optimization is not really that difficult when you know what you're doing!
